Faraday G

The Richard Burton Centre is delighted to host a conversation with the Welsh American actress, Kate Burton, on Friday the 18th of November 2022 at 10.30am in Faraday G for Swansea University students.

Kate Burton is an actress, director, professor and labour activist. Born in Geneva, Switzerland under the British Consulate, she grew up in New York from the age of four when her parents Sybil Williams (from The Rhondda) and renowned actor Richard Burton (from Pontrhydyfen) divorced. Kate is best known for her television work on Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and most recently Inventing Anna, The Dropout and Bosch Legacy.

In this event, Kate will be in conversation with Eve Johnson, a PhD student in the English Department at Swansea University, in which she will reflect upon her life and career. Following this conversation, there will be opportunity for the audience to participate in further discussion with Kate.

Cynhadledd i Fyfyrwyr Ôl-raddedig |  Graduate Conference:  14/6/2018

CALL FOR PAPERS:   The Richard Burton Centre for the Study of Wales seeks paper proposals from postgraduate researchers (MPhil and PhD) working in any discipline on subjects that concern or relate to Wales.

Papers will be of 20 minutes’ duration and will be presented within a multi-disciplinary forum. The audience will be interested, but not necessarily expert, in their own specific field of research. Some thought should therefore be given to exploring the context (theoretical, methodological etc) in which the research has been designed, in order to maximize points of contact and opportunities for comparison across subject areas and disciplines.

Papers might present an overview of the research project as a whole, or of one or more parts of it. The focus might be on the research question and involve some speculation as to how best to resolve it, or it might be more appropriate to concentrate on outcomes and possibilities for further research beyond the qualification currently aimed at.

Please send proposals (no longer than one side of A4) for papers (in either Welsh or English) to:  Prof Daniel Williams, Dept of English, Swansea University.  Email: daniel.g.williams@swansea.ac.uk

Closing date:  Friday 25 May 2018

GALWAD AM BAPURAU:

Mae Canolfan Astudiaethau Cymreig Richard Burton yn galw am  bapurau gan ymchwilwyr ôl-raddedig (MPhil a PhD) sydd yn gweithio mewn unrhyw ddisgyblaeth ar bynciau sy'n ymwneud â Chymru.

Bydd y papurau yn para 20 munud, ac mi fyddant yn cael eu cyflwyno mewn fforwm rhyngddisgyblaethol. Bydd gan y gynulleidfa ddiddordeb, ond ni fyddant o reidrwydd yn arbenigwyr, yn eu meysydd ymchwil eu hunain. Dylid rhoi sylw felly i archwilio cyd-destun (damcaniaethol, methodolegol etc) yr ymchwil, er mwyn gwneud cysylltiadau a manteisio ar gyfleoedd i wneud cymariaethau rhwng meysydd a disgyblaethau pwnc.
